동양적인 것과 서양적인 것, 그 어디쯤의 경계

동양고주파의 음악은 동양적인 것과 서양적인 것 그 어디쯤의 경계에 위치한다. 프로그레시브록을 기반으로 국악, 팝,포크 등 다양함이 공존한다. 2018년 EP 앨범 '틈'으로 데뷔하였으며 현재 2장의 정규앨범과 다수의 싱글, EP 앨범을 발매했다. 2020년과 2021년 세계 최대규모 음악시장 WOMEX에 아시아 최초 2년 연속 선정 되었으며, WOMAD 칠레, WOMAD 로마, 영국 런던 사우스뱅크센터 단독콘서트, 미국 링컨센터 초청공연 등 국내는 물론 해외에서도 왕성한 활동을 벌이고 있다.

독특한 악기의 조합, 점과 선의 음악

양금(윤은화), 베이스(함민휘), 퍼커션(장도혁). 이 세 악기는 모두 점(노트)을 연주하는 리듬악기이다. 악기들이 만들어 내는 점들은 하나의 선(율)을 이루어가고, 선들은 다른 이의 선과 교차하여 때로는 빠른속도로 질주하고, 때로는 유려한 곡선을 이루며 떨어진다. 베이스와 퍼커션이 만들어내는 기반은 견고하며, 그 위에 쌓이는 양금은 화려하며 때로는 처연하다.

무언의 소통

동양고주파는 보컬이 없는 연주 밴드이다. 감정을 표현할 때, 글이나 언어가 때때로 그 감정을 다 담아내지 못할 때가 있다. 동양고주파의 음악과 무대는 관객들로 하여금 언어가 없이도 모두가 공감할 수 있는 감정의 서사를 만들 수 있다.

Somewhere between Eastern and Western

Dongyang Gozupa's music is located somewhere on the border between Eastern and Western. Based on progressive rock, a variety of genres such as Korean traditional music, pop, and folk coexist. They debuted in 2018 with the EP album 'Gap' and has currently released two full-length albums, numerous singles, and EP albums.

In 2020 and 2021, they were selected for the world's largest music market 'WOMEX', for the first time in Asia for two consecutive years, and are actively engaged in activities both domestically and overseas, including solo concerts at WOMAD Chile, WOMAD Rome, London's Southbank Center in the UK, and invited performances at the Lincoln Center in the US.

A unique combination of instruments, Music of dots lines

Yangguem, bass, percussion. These three instuments are all rhythm instruments that play dots (notes). The dots created by the instruments form a single line (rhythm), and the lines intersect with other lines, sometimes running at high speed and sometimes falling in a graceful curve.

The foundation created by the bass and percussion is solid, and the yanggeum piled on top of it is splendid and sometimes sad.

Silent communication

"Dongyang Gozupa" is a performing band without vocals. When expressing emotions, writing or language sometimes cannot contain all of the emotions. Dongyang Gozupa's music and stage can create an emotional narrative that everyone can relate to, even without language.
