덩기두밥 프로젝트

<덩기두밥 프로젝트>는 (사)자라섬청소년재즈센터에서 전국 각지의 민요들을 소재로 하여, 국악적 소리와 재즈적 표현이 융합된 프로젝트이다. 대중들에게 익숙한 민요 외에도 각 지역의 잘 알려지지 않은 토속민요를 발굴하여 재즈와 전통, 그리고 즉흥이 가미된 새로운 음악을 선보인다. 2021년 경기민요를 소재로 한 재즈x민요 프로젝트에서 시작하여 2022년 에는 예술경영지원센터의 전국 창제작 유통협력 지원사업에 선정, 총 7개 도시에서 공연한 바 있으며 2022년 자라섬재즈페스티벌의 <2022 자라섬비욘드> 작품이기도 하다. 2023년 2월에는 2022년에 작업한 곡 중 총 8곡을 엄선하여 음원을 발매하였다.

<덩기두밥 프로젝트>는 여러 음악 장르를 넘나들며 탁월한 융합을 선보이는 베이시스트 이원술을 음악감독으로 하여 민요와 정가를 두루 섭렵한 압도적인 보이스의 소유자 김보라, 탁월한 편곡과 재즈 사운드를 담당하고 있는 기타리스트 김동환, 유려한 드러밍으로 많은 연주자들의 사랑을 받고 있는 드러머 이도헌, 확고한 색채로 자신만의 사운드를 선보이는 거문고 연주자 황진아, 특유한 우수에 젖은 톤으로 관객들의 마음을 사로잡는 트럼페터 배선용으로 총 6인의 연주자가 함께 한다. 앞으로도 덩기두밥 프로젝트는 잘 알려지지 않는 한국의 민요들을 발굴해나가며 레퍼토리화 할 예정이다.

팀명 <dunggi doobop 덩기두밥 프로젝트>는 한국적 장단을 표현하는 '덩기(dunggi)'와 재즈의 '비밥(Bebop)', 그리고 재즈 음악을 표현할 때 흔히 사용되는 '두비두바(dubidooba)'라는 표현에서 아이디어를 얻어 만들어진 이름이다. 다소 어려울 수 있는 재즈와 전통예술의 융합을 위트있게 풀어내며 음악적 장벽을 낮추고자 하는 의도를 담고 있다.

The dunggi doobop project is a combination of Korean traditional music and jazz expressions with Minyo(national folk songs) as a motif. This project, which first started as a 'Jazz X Minyo Project' using Gyeonggi minyo and jazz in 2021, consists of a variety of repertoires with motifs from Minyo from 5 regions nationwide (Gyeongbuk region, Jeonnam region, Jeonbuk region, Gangwon region, and Gyeonggi region).

In this project, bassist Lee Wonsool, who shows excellent fusion across various music genres as the music director, is with Kim Bora, the owner of an overpowering voice who has mastered both Gyeonggi minyo(folk song) and Jeongga (literary vocal genre), Kim Donghwan, a guitarist who is in charge of excellent arrangement and jazz sound, and an elegant drummer Lee Doheon, who is loved by many musicians, Hwang Gina, a geomungo player who presents his own sound with firm colors, and trumpeter Bae Sunyong, a trumpeter who captivates the audience with his unique, excellent tone.

The 'dunggi doobop project', which will create a new Korean Minyo map with a fascinating and intense sound, is often used when expressing 'dunggi', which expresses Korean rhythm, 'bebop' of jazz, and jazz music. The name was created based on the idea of the expression 'dubiduba' used, and it contains the intention to lower the musical barrier by witly solving the fusion of jazz and traditional art, which can be a bit difficult.
