오스트리아 출신 첼로 연주자 김 솔 다니엘 Sol Daniel Kim 과 한국 출신 가야금 연주자 윤다영 Dayoung Yoon 이 2016 년 독일 베를린에서 결성한 듀오이다. 한국 전통음악이 지닌 레퍼토리와 전통악기가 지닌 특수성, 그리고 첼로가 가진 고유의 매력과 특색은 가야금과 첼로 서로에게 새로운 음악에 대한 영감을 제공하며 창작의 원동력이 되어 주고 있다. 동서양의 이색적인 어울림을 선사하는 음악으로 창단 이래 유럽 현지에서 꾸준히 주목을 받아왔다.

2016 년 12 월 독일 베를린을 시작으로 스위스, 이탈리아, 폴란드 등 유럽 공연과 함께 울산문화재단 주최 ‘에이팜 쇼케이스’에 선정되며 국내에서도 공연을 시작하게 되었다. 첼로와 가야금의 음율이 조화로운 음색으로 연주되었다는 평을 받는 첼로가야금은 본격적으로 이름이 알려지기 전인 2018 년, 수림문화재단 주최 수림뉴웨이브 <수림문화상>(1 위)을 수상하며 많은 이들을 놀라게 했다. 2020 년에는 정동극장 주최 '청춘만발' 프로그램의 '올해의 아티스트'상을 수상하였고, 2021 년에는 서울남산국악당의 '젊은국악 단장' 아티스트로 선정되는 영예를 얻으며, 본격적인 활동을 시작하였다.

2021 년 첼로가야금은 JTBC 슈퍼밴드 2 에 출연하여 듀오의 독특한 음악으로 대중들에게 이름을 알리기 시작했다. 같은 해 10 월에는 네덜란드와 독일의 BIMHUIS, De Doelen 등 세계 최정상급 공연장에 정식 초청되어 기립박수를 얻었고 한국-네덜란드 수교 60 주년 행사의 공식 아티스트 선정, 청와대 개방행사 공식 초청 공연 등 국가 행사에도 꾸준히 러브콜을 받고 있다.

CelloGayageum is a duo that first captivated public attention through their appearance on JTBC’s Superband 2. Formed in Berlin, Germany, the duo brings together Austrian cellist Sol Daniel Kim and Korean gayageum player Dayoung Yoon.

Blending the rich depth of Western classical cello with the distinctive timbre and repertoire of Korean traditional music, CelloGayageum creates a unique harmony of East and West. Their music transcends cultural and stylistic boundaries, offering both artistic sophistication and broad appeal.

In March 2025, CelloGayageum is set to expand their global reach through a contract with the New York headquarters of IMG Artists, a world-renowned performing arts agency. This marks a significant step in their international career, signaling even more ambitious and diverse global activities ahead.
